Club owners deny Sim link

Leicester City's club owners have released a statement denying any involvement by them of Joe Sim in the purchase of the football club last year.

Sim, former advisor to the Thai FA, was linked by a Channel 4 investigation with illicit dealings over the buying of English football clubs (see previous post). In that 'Dispatches' documentary, Vichai Raksriaksorn, now chairman of the Foxes, was alleged to have met Sim in relation to the purchase of the club.

In a statement on the club website, however, Vichai and Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn deny any involvement of Sim in the takeover of Leicester City, going so far as to say that Sim had no " involvement with, or authority to comment on any subsequent Leicester City business".

There is no denial from the Raksriaksorns that they met with Sim through his role as advisor to the Thai FA, but clearly reiterated that there was no link between him and Leicester City Football Club. The statement finished:

"Leicester City Football Club and its owners are committed to absolute transparency in every aspect of its operations and activities."

The owners travelled to Sweden earlier in the week to watch their team beat Vasalunds IF on their pre-season tour and they will be looking forward to a solid Foxes' performance against Bursaspor in Austria tonight.
